At Faith, we’re leading people to faith & maturity in Jesus Christ in pursuit of our vision of strengthening families towards a transformed community …

As a production team we leverage technology to create an environment in which people are led to faith and maturity in Jesus Christ.
— Production Team Mission

That mission and vision reaches far beyond the walls of our church building in Huntsville, ON. We’re honoured to steward a broadcast ministry that streams live on Sundays as well as a weekly local cable TV broadcast here in Muskoka and the surrounding areas.

This page is a training resource for the amazing team of volunteers that drive our broadcasts as well as a tool for other churches to find information relating to production excellence in the Church. We receive a number of calls each year from churches who are looking to start broadcasting and have questions about the equipment and systems we use. We love helping out in any way we can as we were encouraged and blessed by other churches when we started streaming in 2014.

Whether you are a production team member here at Faith or at another church, thank you for stepping up to serve God in your local church with the gifts that He has given you!

The look and sound that our Production Team aims for during our worship services is guided by our church’s Worship Statement. You can read it here.

VOLUNTEERS

We have an amazing team of volunteers serving on the Production Team at Faith! Here are the 10 roles that work with excellence to bring together each worship service and other live events. You can click through each role to view their current checklist.

AUDIO SETUP

The sound engineers play a key role in setting the desired atmosphere in our worship environments; both in-house and online. It’s an amazing and humbling role if you think about it. Ever word, whether it is sung, prayed, or taught as part of the message has to pass through the instrument that is the soundboard. And the sound engineer is at the controls of that board. We’ve all been in auditoriums where the sound mix was bad. It’s hard to focus on what’s happening because the mix actually becomes a distraction. When the mix is good, it melts away from the congregation’s mind and they are able to focus on what’s going on in the service.

VIDEO SETUP

Faith runs a seven camera setup. The main camera (camera 1) is a Panasonic HPX370 and it is assisted by one Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) Panasonic AW-HE120 camera and two Panasonic AW-UE150KPJ cameras mounted on the gym walls. In addition, there are three Marshall Electronics CV502-2.5MP HDSDI Mini- Broadcast Camera with 3.7mm HD Prime Lens that provide point-of-view shots of the drums and a second instrument.

All video signals travel over SDI Cable.

There is a single camera operator operating the HPX270 in the main auditorium (back centre) and a second camera operator who works out of the video production suite and controls the three PTZ cameras. The PTZ cameras are controlled with a Panasonic-AW-RP50N.

Each of these cameras feed a signal to the control room, where a video director “calls” the shots. The video director talks to each camera operator through a ClearCom wired intercom system, and tells them what to capture. The camera signals all come together through a Panasonic AV-HS410N Video Switcher, on which the video director mixes the camera feeds and sends the final product to the recording device (Blackmagic HyperDeck Studio Pro) and through that device to our Boxcaster Pro (hardware live stream encoder, requires subscription with Boxcast).

LIGHTING

Our house, front of house, and stage lighting is under DMX control at front of house using a computer running Obsidian’s Onyx software with the use of a two-universe Obsidian DMX-NX USB interface.

STREAMING SETUP

At Faith, we use Boxcast as our streaming provider. We use a hardware streaming encoder, the Boxcaster Pro. We stream each week live to Facebook, YouTube, and our website at faithmuskoka.ca/live. Our services are available on-demand following the live stream. Following the services, our YouTube stream is trimmed down to just include the message and a message-relevant thumbnail is added. This maintains the YouTube metrics from the live stream while providing a library of past messages.

Check out this overview of the Boxcaster Pro.

SCREENS AND BROADCAST OVERLAYS

At Faith, we use ProPresenter 7 to control our screens and broadcast overlays. There are many free and helpful resources online for both the beginners and the advanced. One suggestion we have is to subscribe to the Renewed Vision YouTube channel and follow them on Instagram. There are also great ProPresenter user groups on Facebook that are helpful. Simply search Facebook for them and join!
